Working with a Psychotherapist
It is important to feel comfortable with the psychotherapist or counsellor you work with. I understand that you may want to know a little more about me before deciding to work together.
I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a Psychotherapist in training and clinical practice. I have been working with clients in private practice since 2018. I will graduate in June 2021 from my Masters Degree (MA) in Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy at The Karuna Institute in Devon. Prior to joining the MA at The Karuna Institute, I completed a foundation certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling.
My professional background started in management consulting, having worked as a senior manager in the People and Change practice for Price Waterhouse Coopers and KPMG for nearly 20 years. Throughout my career I worked one to one as a leadership coach and mentor, with both clients and colleagues, an aspect of my work I genuinely loved and enjoyed.
In both my corporate career and training as a psychotherapist, I have seen how we each develop our own methods of communication, but share a common desire and potential to be heard if someone is willing to listen. My aim in working with clients is to provide an environment in which they feel safe to share thoughts and feelings, however difficult they may be.
Through the process of my own extensive psychotherapy and counselling, I have worked with deep emotional wounds and past trauma. I offer deep level of empathy and truly understand how difficult it can be to reach out and ask for support. I have first-hand experience regarding the healing power of a trusting therapeutic relationship with a psychotherapist and have come to love and respect myself realising that my life experiences, even the very dark times, have helped me to become the person and psychotherapist I am today.
